Signature Bank Adds To NY Teams

US-based Signature Bank said yesterday it has appointed two private client banking teams to be located in Manhattan. Ronald Berkowitz, Gabrielle Stern and Abidus Chowdhury were each named group director and senior vice president at Signature Bank, the firm said in a statement. Mr Berkowitz and his team join from TD Bank, where he most recently served as senior branch manager. Previously, he was a branch manager at North Fork. He began his career at Republic National Bank as an assistant branch manager. Joining Mr Berkowitz's team is Howard Green, who was named associate group director and vice president. Mr Green worked with Mr Berkowitz at his previous institution where he served as branch manager. Kimberly Mohammed was named senior client associate. Ms Stern, was most recently vice president, Business Banking at the Tribeca branch of HSBC where she was responsible for portfolio management and business development. Mr Chowdhury worked with Stern in Tribeca, where he was vice president/branch manager. He joined Republic National Bank in 1996 prior to its acquisition by HSBC. Joining Ms Stern and Mr Chowdhury's team, which will be located at the 200 Park Avenue South banking office, is Nicholas Matthias, who will serve as senior client associate.
